To raise funds to expand the scope and work of The Educational Foundation, Dimes for DPhiE (D4D) was created in 2012 as a month-long fundraising initiative held during the month of March to commemorate our Founders, the DIMES.
In its first year, with the help of over 600 donors, we raised nearly $35,000. In 2016, with over 900 donors, we exceeded our goal of $150,000 with over $160,000 fundraised. We are eager to see the continued success in upcoming years.
The Educational Foundation’s Facebook page updates the membership on the fundraising progress throughout the month with chapters and alumnae eagerly waiting to find out their Chapters ranking. Chapters find it successful to host phone-a-thon’s to reach their alumnae, parents and other friends of DPhiE that would be willing to contribute in their Chapters honor, so they can be named the top fundraising chapter. There are prizes for both the chapter and sisters who raise the most, including $1,000 for educational programming.
The Educational Foundation challenges the Chapters to go “All-In” with 100% participation from their active members with a minimum donation of $25 for each active sister. By participating, Chapters are able to show their support for the Educational Foundation and in return, members will receive an exclusive Educational Foundation shirt to commemorate their gift. Alumnae donations will also count for collegiate chapter totals. Individuals who contribute $75 or more receive the limited edition shirt as well.
Let your involvement in DIMES for DPhiE be the way you honor your membership this year. Besides donating yourself, you can hold a campus fundraiser, ask your employer to match your giving funds or request friends and family donate to The Educational Foundation in your honor—a $25 donation (or more!) will help DPhiE become even better and stronger.
